Myelography (myelogram)
A myelogram evaluates the spinal canal, spinal cord, and nerve roots. Contrast is injected into the space around the spinal cord using fluoroscopy, or real-time X-ray imaging.
- Tell your physician about medications, allergies, and previous contrast reactions.
- Some medications, including blood thinners and certain antidepressants, may require adjustment. Only change medications under your clinician’s instructions.
- Tell your physician if you may be pregnant.
- Remove metal objects and wear a gown if instructed.
- You may remain under observation for up to two hours afterward. Arrange for someone to drive you home.
